We listen, act, and transform
I am a solo practitioner based in Eugene, Oregon. I have been working as a counselor for since 2017 and in the mental health field since 2014. Prior to entering the mental health field, I served in a pastoral role on a Christian Church staff. In my work with the church, I saw so many people struggling with life transitions, depression, anxiety, parenting and interpersonal relationship challenges and overcoming trauma which increased my drive to gain the skills needed to walk alongside individuals as they navigated life challenges and sent be back to school for my degree in clinical mental health counseling.
I believe that all individuals need to feel a sense of connection and purpose. My counseling philosophy is trauma informed and based on Adlerian and Gestalt theory incorporating aspects of cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy. When you do not feel a healthy sense of purpose or connection, or when trauma and difficult life circumstances impact you, counseling can help you to heal from the past and rediscover a sense of purpose. The first step that I pursue in counseling is to understand how you view yourself. Using validation and empathy to create a warm connection we will work together to better understand your worldview, customs, beliefs, and expectations. This information will be used to guide the direction and interaction of the sessions. Individuals enter counseling at various stages of the change process, my role as a counselor is to facilitate your self-reflection and help you to evaluate your life roles to identify thought patterns and behaviors that impact your interactions in the world and overall feelings about yourself, working toward living a life of purpose and joy.
I am looking forward to working with you!
